NextStop app
Last reviewed: October 11, 2026
This page covers the NextStop app (NYC Subway) and the service behind it.
What we collect
- Your location, while the app is open: to show nearby stations. It stays on your phone and is not sent to us.
- Your saved favorites: stored on your phone, not uploaded.
- Your purchase receipt: if you subscribe to remove ads, the app sends your App Store receipt to our server to confirm the subscription.
- Server logs: our subscription server logs the requests it handles, including the receipt it checks.
- Crash reports and usage statistics: which screens you open and how many favorites you save (never which stations).
- Ad data: the free version shows ads, and the ad companies can collect data about your device and the ads you see.
Where it goes
- Apple: your subscription receipt is checked with Apple. Their privacy policy
- Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics): usage statistics and crash reports. Their privacy information
- Advertising services: Google AdMob, with InMobi and AppLovin. Google, InMobi, AppLovin
- Amazon Web Services: hosts our subscription-checking server and the public schedule, map and alert files the app downloads (the app doesn't send your location or any identifier to get them). Their privacy policy
How long we keep it
- Favorites and location: on your phone until you delete them or the app.
- Server logs: kept for our records, with no set deletion date.
What we don't do
- No account or sign-in.
- We don't send your location to our servers.
Your choices
- Turn location off in iOS Settings. The app still works, but "nearby" won't.
- Remove ads with the in-app subscription, which you manage in your App Store subscriptions.
- Limit ad tracking in iOS Settings under Privacy.
- Delete your favorites in the app, or delete the app to remove what it stored.
