CIVIC golf app
Last reviewed: October 11, 2026
This page covers the CIVIC golf app and its course-search service. The civic.golf website has its own page.
What we collect
- Your location, while the app is open: to find nearby courses and measure distances. When you search for nearby courses, your coordinates are sent to our course search service, which uses them to find results and doesn't save them.
- Course names you search for: sent to our course search service to find matches.
- Server logs: our course search service logs each request, including your IP address and the time, to keep the service running and secure.
- Health and workout data on Apple Watch, with your permission: the watch records a golf workout (calories, distance, steps, heart rate) and saves it to Apple Health.
- Your rounds and scorecards, including player initials and settings: stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud.
- Round photos you add: saved to your own iCloud Drive.
Where it goes
- Our course search and course data service, hosted on Amazon Web Services: it receives your search text or search location, and requests for course maps and data. Their privacy policy
- Apple (iCloud, Health and Maps): your rounds sync between your devices through your private iCloud, workouts go to Apple Health, and course maps use Apple Maps. We can't see your iCloud or Health data. Apple's privacy policy
How long we keep it
- Rounds, scorecards, photos and workouts: until you delete them (or delete the app).
- Server logs: kept for our records, with no set deletion date.
What we don't do
- No analytics, advertising or tracking.
- No account or sign-up. We don't collect your name or email in the app.
- No location tracking in the background.
Your choices
- Turn off location, Health access and iCloud for the app at any time in Settings. You can decline Health access and still use the app.
- Delete rounds in the app, or delete the app to remove local data.
- Photos are optional.
